Work on the construction of the 9.5-kilometre Ateku–Ikpenger road in in Mbatiav, Gbemacha Constituency of Gboko Local Government Area, Benue State, has reached an advanced stage, with the asphalting of the first section now underway.

The project, which is being executed under the administration of Hyacinth Iormem Alia, continues to record steady progress as contractors intensify efforts on site.

During a media tour by Ohitty TV/Radio, it was observed that heavy-duty equipment and construction workers are actively engaged in key stages of the project, including leveling, and the construction of bridges and culverts along the route.

Residents of communities along the corridor expressed appreciation to the Government, describing the project as a significant intervention that will improve mobility and economic activity in the area.

Farmers and traders, in particular, are expected to benefit from improved access to transportation, which will enable them to move agricultural produce more efficiently and expand their trading opportunities.

The Ateku–Ikpenger road is widely regarded as a critical infrastructure project that will not only enhance transportation but also contribute significantly to the broader socio-economic development of Benue State.
